At the time, Ancient China was made up of seven warring states. Under King
Ying Jien, Chin grew in strength through bloody warfare at the other six
states' expense. In a defining moment for the King, he ordered 10,000 captured
prisoners from the state of Zhao executed, despite rules of war clearly stating
that prisoners were to be protected.
