Noll Completes the Bunker for Power Generators 581st Signal RR Co. on Hill 1157 in Korea, 1951
31. Noll Completes the Bunker for Power Generators

After we put the roof on I obtained some cement. It was not of good quality. We mixed it up and built a ledge about 2 feet high for the generators to sit on. At that time we had about 20 generators. Because of the carbon monoxide problem I had the Koreans take the ends out of some mortar shell casings and made a tube the full length of the shed so that the exhaust would be funneled out of the bunker. The heat generated kept the idle generators warm enough so you could start them in cold weather.
