Chinese college students show their support for the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Remember that the People's Republic of China had been just declared by Mao Zedong just a few months before in October 1, 1949. China has been united as a new Republic for only eight months and now faced a foreign country in a war in Korea. Naturally, nationalism has been raised to a high level.
