Yes often with disastrous results. You can open the vent letting the pressure escape in a rush. Remember the inside temperature in the jars is in the neighborhood of 240 degrees F, far above the boiling point. So the contents then at standard pressure will boil excessively. Where can the steam go? It can force the liquid out from under the seal or it can burst the jar. Don't speed the cooling. Let the pressure and temperature cool a while before opening and removing the contents.
