| deciduous | Falling off at the end of the growing season or sooner. Also said of plants that are leafless part of the year. | ||
| decumbent | Lying on the ground with the tips pointing upward. | ||
| entire | Having a margin without any teething or division. | ||
| erect | Standing upright from the ground. | ||
| evergreen | Remaining green throughout the year. | ||
| fleshy | Thick and juicy. Often said of plants in the stonecrop family. | ||
| florets | Small individual flowers in the largest flower head, as occurs in sunflowers. | ||
| herb | A plant without woody above-ground parts, the stems dying back to the ground each year. | ||
| inflorescence | Arrangement of the flowers, or cluster of flowers of a plant. | ||
| lobe | Projecting segment of an organ. Free parts of a flower tube. | ||
| margin | Edge as pertaining to a leaf. | ||
| noxious | A plant capable of causing damage to agricultural crops or animal health. | ||
| opposite | Arranged in pairs at the same level and on opposite sides. Often said of leaves on the stem. | ||
| palmate | Divided into lobes diverging like fingers of your hand. Often used to describe some leaves. | ||
| panicle | Type of inflorescence where the flowers bloom from the bottom up. | ||
| perennial | Plant that live more than two years. | ||
| petal | A member of the inside ring of a modified flower leaves, usually white or brightly colored. | ||
