Deltoid Balsamroot (Puget Balsamroot)

Balsammorhiza deltoidea - Common, late spring, perennial, 8-36 in. Clump of basal leaves and erect flower stems. Leaves with long petioles, widely spear-shaped, 8-24 in. long, entire to toothed, roughly to thinly hairy. Flowers stems carry few, small, entire leaves and 1 or 2 flower heads, Ray flowers 13-21, showy, 1-2 in long, surrounding large center of short disk flowers above bracts that are only slightly wooly. Grows in open sites, grassy areas, at low to high elevations.
