Emperor Dai (Zhu Qiyu) was the provisional emperor during the capture and sequestration of his elder brother, Emperor Yingzong, from 1450 to 1457. Although he was well advised, he was irresolute and could not deal with the events unleashed by the restoration of his elder brother.
