Visit to Sam Yu's Family
in Huoshan, Anhui, China

20. Beijing Railway Station

After we had visited with Sam and his family in Anhui Province and we had gone to Huangshan for a few days we had to bid adieu to China and head towards home. Sam assisted us in buying a ticket on the train to Beijing to catch a plane home to Oregon. We got tickets in soft seats and that turned out to be almost a disaster. This section of the train was extremely crowded. We would be awake all night. Sam managed to get Bernice and me a bed in the hard bed section. So Bernice and I got some sleep on this 12-hour overnight trip. Arriving in Beijing train station, Sam arranged for us to take a taxi to the airport ($20 US). We got there in time for our flight and bid goodbye to Sam who went off to visit a friend in Beijing. This year (2002) Sam has enrolled at SIAS University to get a degree in Business and Management. We know he will succeed.
