Noll Tries on a Korean Costume 581st Signal RR Co. on Hill 1157 in Korea, 1951
29. Noll Tries on a Korean Costume

One day for fun I tried on a very typical Korean woman's dress owned by this young lady who worked in the kitchen. I am standing on my knees trying to look very demure. By this time the station has been going for some time and we have a Quonset hut and about 36 men. It is a very important and vital station. Many of the men have various specialties such as four cooks, small engine specialists, and others. I don't know all of them or always what they did. I get involved with my duties and don't always get involved with each of the others. We have placed barbwire entanglements around the entire station complex.

Army wire is wicked stuff. It is very heavy 12-gauge four-barbed stuff and is wicked to work with. I had many scars to show for the efforts I put into the construction of this barrier. Enemy groups had wiped out several Relay stations so we had to be ready. However in North Korea, people would at times shoot at us from adjacent hills.   Hi-Res Pic (94K)
